From its first year in a basement, the Sephardic Torah Center of Marine Park was never only a place to daven. Programs "to uplift the community members' entire households" — the Rabbi's phrase — were part of the founding vision, and they remain the rhythm of the shul's week.
The Rabbi's Wednesday night class
The anchor of the week: Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Aboud's Wednesday night shiur, a fixture of the shul's calendar for years and one of its most beloved institutions. Sponsorship of the class is a time-honored zechut in the kehila.
Daily Halachah — Hilchot Shabbat
The Rabbi's recorded Daily Halachah series on Hilchot Shabbat brings a few minutes of practical halachah into the community's homes every day — short, clear, and immediately usable at your own Shabbat table. Find it through the schedule page.
For women
Classes for ladies date to the shul's founding year. The Ladies & Girls Tehillim program gathers on Shabbat afternoons, and through the years the shul has hosted women's evenings on Taharat HaMishpacha, Shalom Bayit, and the Yamim Noraim with noted teachers.
For children
Avot uBanim brings fathers and sons to the Bet Midrash for learning, prizes and treats, and the youth minyan programs give children a tefillah of their own to grow into.
With the move to 3609 Quentin Road, the shul's Bet Midrash finally has room for all of it — and for more. Watch the schedule for current class times.
